Seal of Approval for JT's Cloud

Thursday 29 January 2015

JT’s Cloud Platform has become the first of its kind to receive Regulator approval from the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC).

Gaining this approval means that global eGaming companies choosing the Channel Islands and registering with the AGCC, can choose JT’s Cloud Platform to host their business critical data, confident that it meets the stringent international security requirements.

Paul Taylor, Managing Director of JT’s Global Enterprise Business Unit, said: “After an intensive process working with the AGCC over some months, JT is extremely pleased to have reached the point to announce that our Cloud platform is the first to achieve Regulator approval.

“Our position as the only regulator approved Cloud solution means we hope new licensees will choose JT as provider at the very beginning of their selection process and benefit from a speedier route to market. It also means these companies will have access to the wider benefits that our carrier grade Cloud Platform offers; around security, control, performance and scalability.

“We welcome this endorsement as recognition of JT’s continued investment in order to provide the right products and services to meet our customers’ needs, and attract new business to the Channel Islands. Furthermore it underlines our position as the global partner of choice for this very important sector. We will continue to work in close partnership with the AGCC and are very grateful to Robin Le Prevost and the AGCC team for their support in enabling JT to make this next step in providing approved eGambling and Cloud Hosting.”

Robin Le Prevost, Alderney’s Director of eCommerce, commented: “We are delighted that JT have developed this Cloud based solution. It has taken an enormous amount of time and investment on their part to reach this seminal moment. Whilst there may be Cloud technology deployed in a few other jurisdictions none have been certified to specific gambling regulations. Cloud has enormous potential to deliver cost effective solutions to gambling operators, but there were specific challenges in ensuring that the data and functionality are secure and free from external threats.

“The AGCC has worked closely with JT to bring about this innovation and I have no doubt this will deliver extraordinary capability and commercial benefit to our licensees whilst maintaining the integrity and reputation of the jurisdiction.”

To date JT has invested over £40million in its Channel Island based Data Centre facilities and off-island fibre connectivity, and operates the largest Tier 1 telecommunications infrastructure in the Channel Islands. This approval bolsters JT’s existing AGCC Data Centre Hosting Certificate License and strengthens its position as Cloud partner of choice for the eGaming industry.
