Top tier ranking for Carey Olsen

Monday 06 October 2014

A finance industry report that grades law firms across the UK, has ranked Carey Olsen in tier one across all of its 16 practice categories in the Channel Islands.

The new edition of Legal 500 UK ranked the firm in tier one for all eight practice areas in Jersey and seven in Guernsey, and for its offshore London practice, making it the only offshore law firm to have top tier status across the board.

New additions to tier one for the firm this year include its Jersey investment funds practice and its Guernsey employment practice. Tier one rankings have been reconfirmed for the remaining practice areas that the directory assesses, namely:

  • In Jersey:
  1. Banking and finance
  2. Corporate and commercial
  3. Commercial property
  4. Dispute resolution
  5. Employment
  6. Private client, trusts and tax
  7. Structured finance and securitisation
  • In Guernsey:
  1. Commercial and banking
  2. Commercial property
  3. Dispute resolution
  4. Insurance
  5. Investment funds
  6. Private client, trusts and tax

Carey Olsen’s Chairman Advocate John Kelleher said: "Our firm has been well-represented in the Legal 500 UK for many years but to have achieved a clean sweep of first tier rankings is a real coup. We thank all of our clients for providing such outstanding feedback about our firm and our people. The rankings reflect our ability consistently to deliver excellent client service and, following on from our recent win as 'Offshore Law Firm of The Year' at The Lawyer Awards, re-affirm our position as a leading player in the offshore legal market whilst cementing our reputation in the Channel Islands.”

Legal 500 rankings are compiled by way of a thorough and independent research process which analyses information from the firms themselves, competitors and clients
