Charities, schools, community groups and Islanders are being encouraged to apply for £1,000 to help fund a project which must be completed within 100 days and benefits the local community.
The 100 Day Community Challenge is a one-off challenge launched by The Channel Islands Co-operative Society Limited as part of its centenary celebrations.
The Society is inviting applications for projects that benefit the community, whether it’s creating a garden within the local community, organising a beach clean or running a new club at school. The projects must be completed within 100 days between 2nd September and 11thDecember 2019.
Application forms will be available online at channelislands.coop/CommunityChallenge between Monday 29thApril and Tuesday 4thJune. Paper application forms are to be sent to Co-operative House in St.Helier.
Once the applications are submitted a panel of judges will select ten projects to receive £1,000 funding. The winning projects will be announced in late June.
‘The 100 Day Community Challenge embodies our ‘belonging is everything’ ethos and helps to mark the Co-operative’s 100th anniversary in the Channel Islands,’ said the Co-op’s Chief Executive Officer Colin Macleod.
‘We are often approached by organisations looking for funding to support a project they would love to undertake, and this challenge is one way of helping these organisations make a difference in the Islands. Holding the initiative within 100 days will hopefully bring some fun and healthy rivalry to the challenge. We are very much looking forward to seeing the applications and what creative community ideas come forward.’
In addition to receiving £1,000, winning applicants will also be invited to attend a workshop on digital and marketing skills to help publicise their project, as well as receiving coverage on the Co-operative’s community blog and social media channels. The groups will be encouraged to share the progress of their story by posting updates using the #CICoop100 hashtag on social media.
