With less than two weeks until the NatWest XVII Island Games, the Jersey Athletics team are raring to go with new training kits proudly sponsored by First Names Group.

The 20-strong team will be travelling to Gotland, Sweden, to compete in the Games from 24 to 30 June, together with team managers Ben Silva and Karen Le Mottee. As well as managing the team in her spare time, Karen is a senior statutory officer within First Names Group’s Jersey office.

The Group’s sponsorship of just over £1,300 has covered the athletics kit for the entire team to compete in, which consists of red, black and white crop tops for the ladies and vests for the men. In addition, each athlete has been provided with a more casual sports top to wear when training.

Last week, the athletes gathered at FB Fields to receive their new kit. They were joined by a group of ‘First Names’ including Managing Director of First Names Group Jersey, Ben Newman, who was on hand to help give out the kit and meet the athletes.

Team manager and ‘First Name’ Karen commented:

“We are delighted with our new team kit and incredibly grateful for the sponsorship provided by First Names Group. All of our athletes were excited to receive their kit and meet Ben Newman, who has made this possible. On behalf of the Jersey Athletics team and my fellow team manager Ben Silva, I would like to thank Ben and everyone at First Names Group for their support.”

Ben Newman added:

“We are so pleased to have been able to show our support for Jersey’s athletes in the Gotland Island Games, and it’s a particular pleasure to sponsor a team led by one of our own people. We wish the very best of luck to Karen, Ben and the Jersey Athletics team, and to all the other teams and individuals representing the island at this year’s Games.”
