Local brain injury charity headway is calling for islanders to take part in a fundraising abseil.
The Headway Mont Orgueil Castle Challenge Abseil taking place on Saturday 26th March with a two-hour training and abseil at St. Catherine’s Breakwater, and the iconic Mont Orgueil Castle Challenge abseil on Sunday 27th March.
Malcolm Ferey, CEO of Headway Jersey, has previously completed the challenge.
“Doing the abseil was a fantastic opportunity to get involved in an event that was going to raise money for Headway Jersey, and at the same time prove to myself that I can overcome feelings of fear, anxiety, and general trepidation," he said.
“The training was first class, and although I still felt quite nervous taking that first step over the edge, I knew (although my brain was telling me otherwise) that I was in safe hands.
“On completion, the endorphins kicked in and I felt a true sense of achievement and even went back up for another go, this time taking the opportunity to admire the fantastic views and generally enjoy the experience.
“I would thoroughly recommend this challenge. You will test yourself to the limits and get to understand just how resilient you can be. Thanks to everyone who sponsored me.”
Entry is £32.50, which includes the training, entry to the castle and the 2 abseils including the cliff face at St. Catherine’s and the experience of a lifetime at Mont Orgueil Castle.
