HSBC Expat, which is headquartered in Jersey and has a presence in the Isle of Man, has been recognised for its commitment to innovation in expatriate banking, winning the ‘EMMA’ award for ‘Expatriate Banking and Financial Services Innovation’ for the sixth consecutive year.

The EMMA (Expatriate Management & Mobility Award) was presented at the Forum for Expatriate Management for Europe, Middle East and African (EMEA) region, held at the Intercontinental O2 in London this month.

The win reflects a number of innovations HSBC Expat has brought to the market, which includes making online account opening more straightforward, rolling out online document certification technology, providing a live chat facility, and giving expats easy access to information through the market leading Expat Explorer survey.

On HSBC Expat’s award win, the team of independent judges noted that “HSBC combines scale, industry knowledge and an eco-system to support expatriate financial and other needs. It’s an expat must have”.

John Goddard, Head of HSBC Expat, said: “Our ability to provide customers all over the world with a first-class, ‘always on’, personalised service is built on our commitment to innovation and embracing new technology, so it’s pleasing for that to be recognised through these awards.

“We recognise that relocating to a different country can be a complicated process and for that reason we’ve made a concerted effort to make our customers lives as easy as possible by focusing increasingly on building our digital capabilities.”

The Forum for Expatriate Management (FEM) is a community for the global mobility and HR industry and the EMMAs are considered the premier awards for the sector.

Claire Tennant-Scull, Global Head of Content and Events Director at FEM, added: “The EMMAs are the premier awards ceremony for Global Mobility in EMEA and across the globe, with the greatest breadth of categories for both corporate professionals and service providers. I think the results were very interesting, and reflective of the change that is occurring across the industry.”
