Ticket sales for the Jersey Hospice Care Million Pound Lottery launch today: £1.3m worth of prizes to be won

Tickets sales launch for the 2021 Million Pound Lottery this Monday 17 May at 10am, as the team at Jersey Hospice Care launch their biggest fundraiser of the year. The Million Pound Lottery is the single biggest fundraising event of the year and raises £800,000 for Hospice, ensuring that all the care they provide remains free of charge. It is also the key event where Hospice is able to give back to the community which supports them so faithfully every year, with a total of £1,300,000 given back in ten prizes.

Tickets are on sale from 10am on Monday 17 May for £300 each and available to by online at mpl.jerseyhospicecare.com or in person at de Gruchy in town (on the first floor by the Infusion Café) and from the Hospice fundraising shop in St Ouen. In addition to the chance of winning the coveted £1,000,000 prize, everyone who buys a ticket before 6pm on 30 June is also automatically entered into the ‘Early Bird’ draw to win a £1,000 de Gruchy’s gift card, kindly donated by de Gruchy.

John Marquis, General Manager at de Gruchy, said: “It’s always our pleasure and privilege to be the key venue in town for the sale of the Million Pound Lottery tickets; we hear first-hand the enthusiasm from Islanders in supporting the amazing work of Hospice, including many touching personal stories. De Gruchy are delighted to be supporting such a good cause once again and giving back to the community with the Early Bird prize.”

Following the overwhelming success of online ticket sales last year, with 54% of tickets bought online, this option will once again be available for those who prefer to purchase their ticket from home or the office, on a computer, tablet or smart phone. Tickets will be issued electronically by email and can be printed out as required.

Director of Income Generation, Katrina Hancock, said: “Moving ticket sales online last year during COVID-19 was vital for the Lottery to be a success and we were really encouraged and grateful for the overwhelmingly positive response this received. It is a great step forwards to offer ticket sales online as it certainly is popular and convenient for people, however, I am so pleased to be able to launch this year’s Million Pound Lottery with our usual in-person sales too. Our Volunteers, primed and ready to sell tickets, really enjoy meeting members of the community who support Hospice this way each year and thanking them in person for their support.”

The Live Draw on Friday 3rd September will be at the Royal Yacht Hotel where, restrictions permitting, it will once again be an in-person event. The evening is usually one of excitement and anticipation and brings the community together to celebrate as ten individuals’ lives are changed live on television.”

With just 7000 tickets available for £300 each, the odds of winning the £1,000,000 prize or one of the nine other runners up prizes, worth a total of £300,000, is significantly higher than most lotteries. The first prize is £1m, followed by prizes of £100,000, £75,000, £50,000, £25,000 and five prizes of £10,000. Tickets are expected to sell out by the end of July and those wanting to be included in the Early Bird Draw are reminded to purchase their tickets prior to 6pm on 30th June.

Jersey Hospice Care is very grateful to all its partners who have supported the 2021 Million Pound Lottery: Jersey Gambling Commission, WebReality, YOTI, and de Gruchy.
