JT’s new service that will allow businesses to dramatically cut costs by housing IT storage and systems in the Cloud has gone live today.

JT’s new service that will allow businesses to dramatically cut costs by housing IT storage and systems in the Cloud has gone live today.

The ‘infrastructure-as-a-service’ offering is the first pan-island enterprise grade Cloud service and allows companies of any size to place critical data services and applications into JT’s state-of-the-art Data Centres, creating savings for clients who no longer wish to invest capital in their own hardware and data centres.

Because JT’s infrastructure is all within the Channel Islands, the service also removes the data sovereignty and regulatory issues that have prevented some firms from adopting Cloud services in the past by guaranteeing that their data will stay in the jurisdictions.

In addition, JT can also offer the flexibility of being part of the Global Cloud Alliance network which has hubs in eight locations around the world. That allows them to burst data to any of those locations should clients want to share it between offices in other countries.

The new enterprise-grade service has been developed in partnership with market-leading global Cloud services provider Dimension Data and combines their expertise and experience and JT’s long track-record of serving island businesses. The agreement with Dimension Data also allows our clients to access their global network to position data anywhere around the world – a service of huge interest to international clients operating across jurisdictions.

Paul D. Taylor, JT Managing Director (Guernsey) said that there was substantial interest in Cloud services across key markets and particularly the finance sector.

Mr Taylor said: ‘By partnering with market-leaders Dimension Data, we can unlock innovation in services, establish ourselves as a Cloud provider, and deliver quality and cost-effective services to clients underpinned by JT’s superior local  infrastructure.

‘Crucially, we are able to offer a flexible and scalable service to clients that can adapt quickly to what they need and which can grow with them. The key benefits to customers include reduced capital expenditure and speed to market with services making businesses more agile and competitive against their competitors.

‘Underlying all of this is the fact that we have been established as a Tier 1 operator  in the Channel Islands for over 120 years and the security that comes with that.

‘This new product is precisely the kind of innovation that our customers are looking for, and underpins our vision of becoming the partner of choice for global telecommunications innovation.’
