Melville Douglas - a boutique global investment management firm wholly owned by Standard Bank - was a finalist at the recent Citywire Wealth Manager Investment Performance Awards. The company was one of only four firms to make the final shortlist in the ‘medium-sized’ category.
The awards are among the most prestigious prizes a UK wealth manager can win and are presented to wealth managers who consistently deliver great performance for their clients. This year, there were more than 172 portfolio entries, covering more than £46 billion of assets. The awards are based on consistency of performance, i.e. risk-adjusted performance over three years, consistency year-by-year over that period, and finally, how many clients, and how much money the portfolio is applied to. The award calculations are independently determined by Asset Risk Consultants, a leading investment consulting practice.
Chris Stead, Melville Douglas’s Jersey-based Head of Portfolio Management, said: “This is a great achievement for Melville Douglas and reflects the strength of the team as well as our unique investment approach, which has an unrelenting emphasis on quality and long-term investment, as illustrated by our low portfolio turnover. We are firmly focused on selecting assets that are risk appropriate, offer long-term stability with strong and repeated cash flows, and where the starting price is low enough to allow the power of compounding to deliver above average returns.”
