The RNLI, selected as Rossborough’s Charity of the Year 2017, is delighted to receive a generous donation from the insurance company enabling it to supply new crew members with kit and uniforms.
Every year, Rossborough Insurance staff select a Charity of the Year which will be the focus of fundraising activity, mainly ‘dress down Fridays,’ and 2017 saw the company select the RNLI, Guernsey’s lifeboat service and crew. In total, Rossborough raised and donated £2,856.
Edward Fattorini, Chairperson, Guernsey Lifeboat Supporters Association, said, ‘We are thrilled to receive such a generous donation. To be chosen as Charity of the Year by an organisation like Rossborough Insurance makes a big difference for us and shows just how important the RNLI and the lifeboat is to the people of Guernsey. In recent months we have taken on 3 new crew members who have just completed their training. However, their full kit and uniform costs about £1,000 each. We are very pleased to say the money raised by the Rossborough team will allow us to get these new recruits kitted out.’
The official handover of the donation took place earlier this month, with Ian Stewart, Rossborough Managing Director, Guernsey, Edward Fattorini and Linden Galsworthy, Marine Service Officer and RNLI member for 17 years in attendance. The lifeboat, Spirit of Guernsey, had just arrived back in harbour from a call out.
Ian Stewart commented, ‘We are very proud to have supported the RNLI for a whole year and helped them to get their new crew members ready for service. The morning we officially gave the donation saw the Spirit of Guernsey go out on a call and that is what supporting them is all about. They do vital and important work for our island community and our staff were thrilled to support them throughout the year.’
He continued, ‘In 2018, our Charity of the Year is the Guernsey Welfare Service, another invaluable support system near and dear to the people of Guernsey and we look forward to continuing to raise lots of funding for them throughout the year.’
