At this year's Go Wild Golf Day, players raised a fantastic £10,000 for Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust's work to save species from extinction. The charity's sixth annual golf day, again kindly sponsored by Rathbones Investment Management International (RIMI), took place on Friday 28th June at La Moye Golf Club.

Twenty-four teams of four were joined by the charismatic Kriss Akabusi, the retired British sprinter and hurdler known for his athletic achievements in the late 1980s and early 1990s and his successful career as a TV presenter and motivational speaker. His presence added a touch of excitement and inspiration to the event, as he not only joined the teams for fun and games on the course but also delivered an inspiring talk that left a lasting impression on the players.

PWC's team took first place, followed by Affinity in second place, and the Durrell Birdies in third place. Winners of 'Nearest to the Pin' were Darren Toudic and Brona Lambert, and 'Longest Drive' were Michael Smit and Alison Eager.

After completing 18 holes, the teams came together for lunch, where they were joined by Durrell's Interim CEO, Rebecca Brewer, and Rewild Carbon Manager, Amy Bompas, to hear about Durrell's vital work around the world to recover threatened wildlife and revive precious ecosystems.

Rebecca Brewer, Interim CEO of Durrell, expressed her gratitude, stating, "This year's Go Wild Golf Day was a great success, raising valuable funds for Durrell's work to save precious wildlife across the globe. We owe a huge thank you to our loyal sponsor, Rathbones, whose continued support makes events like this possible. Additionally, we'd like to express our appreciation to all the teams who participated, contributing not only to a fun-filled day but also to the vital fundraising efforts for Durrell. Your support means so much to us."

Peter Musker, Head of Client Development, RIMI, added, “It’s been another exceptionally successful event, that not only brings the community together for a great cause but also aligns with our commitment to protecting our environment for future generations to enjoy. As well as being partners of Rewild Carbon, we also took steps to offset the carbon footprint of the event, ensuring that our contribution helps protect the planet in multiple ways."
