Plastic Free Jersey are joining a global movement of businesses, community groups and everyday activists this Friday (16th June) to mark World Refill Day. Businesses including The Liberation Group, Rhona’s at the Beach and The Watersplash have all signed up to try and encourage customers to shop with less plastic by choosing to reuse.
World Refill Day is a global day of action to prevent plastic pollution and help people live with less waste. This year we’re reimagining the future and working to accelerate the transition away from single-use plastic and towards a circular future where reuse & refill are the norm. Millions of people around the world will be taking action to prevent plastic pollution. City to Sea, the organisation behind the campaign, is calling on the public to ‘choose to reuse’ by making small changes to their everyday routines and switching from single-use to refill & reuse
World Refill Day is designed to get people talking about the problem, and crucially to highlight the solutions and help people take action to reduce waste. Our small changes might not seem like much on their own, but added together, we can make a huge difference, showing big brands, businesses and governments that we want and need to see urgent action to tackle the plastic crisis. We urgently need to shift from our disposable, single-use culture to a more sustainable, circular future, with reuse & refill at the centre. The good news is, we already have the tools we need to change the world.
To mark the day, City to Sea is also the first ever “Global Reuse Summit” – a free digital event for change-makers, business leaders, policy makers and innovators to learn, share and be inspired as we drive the transition from single-use to reuse. Tickets are free and can be accessed here.
