The Sure Customer Service Awards winners were announced at a presentation ceremony on Thursday evening to a packed audience in Market Square. Individual and team winners represented the full spectrum of the Guernsey business community - all sharing a commitment to delivering excellent customer care.

The overall winner for 2016 was the team at Perelle Butchery. Finalists in previous years, they were delighted to have finally been chosen as a winner.

Guernsey Chamber of Commerce director, Barry Cash, said the improving levels of excellence in the island were demonstrated in this year’s awards.

‘After reviewing and adapting the awards to ensure that they continue to meet the business community’s needs, we saw a substantial increase in entries, so much so that the decision-making process took longer than anticipated – it was just so difficult to choose.’

Founder of the event and director of Collaborate Communications, Julie Todd, said: ‘With our new format of announcing finalists at an earlier date, we generated so much interest in the presentation evening that it was hard to keep up with the numbers. We are already starting to plan and adapt for next year’s awards which continue to be a great way of showcasing and celebrating customer service excellence in the Bailiwick.’

Eddie Saints, Chief Executive of headline sponsor Sure, who presented the overall winners with their award, said the island should take great pride in the fact that not only did great businesses participate in the event, but that their involvement was driven by business owners and senior managers who understand the importance and value of customer service at every level of their organisations.

“It is clear from the number of entries for this year’s Sure Customer Service Awards that both customers and businesses in Guernsey take good customer service very seriously and that local companies and individuals understand that a great customer experience is essential for business success.

“Customer service has changed dramatically in recent years and it is really encouraging to see local businesses embracing the various new channels of communicating with their customers, making sure they receive a great service however they decide to connect with a business.

“Congratulations to this year’s winners and shortlisted finalists - they should be extremely proud of their achievements and Sure is pleased to help them gain the recognition that their hard work and dedication deserves.”
