Fraud and the financial abuse of the vulnerable will be addressed at AO Hall’s sixth biennial fraud conference.

AO Hall partner Alison Ozanne said: "The aim of the day will be to deliver a thought-provoking and practical conference exploring the current rapidly developing law of mental capacity and undue influence and their impact on the legality of financial transactions. This will be of particular interest to a professional Guernsey audience.

"With our large trust and banking industry, practitioners need to be alive to issues of mental capacity and undue influence when advising vulnerable clients who are making important decisions about transactions affecting their finances and private wealth management. Practitioners need to be aware of the “danger signs” and how to deal with them to avoid becoming embroiled in expensive and lengthy disputes later on, disputes that can destroy the client relationship and damage their business.”

Professor Robin Jacoby, the UK‘s leading medico-legal expert on mental capacity issues, and Her Honour Hazel Marshall QC, Lt Bailiff of Guernsey, who was previously the judicial member of the Public Guardian Board in the UK, have both been confirmed as keynote speakers at the event, which takes place at St Pierre Park Hotel on 16th September.

They will address delegates alongside other leading speakers from the legal and finance sectors.
