The beautiful island of Guernsey will continue to be on the Leeds Bradford Airport schedule throughout winter following a successful summer season.
Aurigny began operating flights from LBA earlier this year. It has been such a popular destination that the Guernsey based airline has announced the continuation of the route thoughout the winter, running twice weekly flights until March 2017. A summer schedule will follow – making the route year-round.
Scheduled flights are Mondays and Fridays:

Clive Acton, Commercial Manager at Aurigny, said: “We are very pleased to be able to fly throughout the winter to Leeds Bradford Airport following the success of our summer season. This will give islanders the opportunity to visit Leeds and its surrounding areas, especially sampling the Christmas market in Leeds.
“We are also pleased to fly over the winter to attract visitors from across Yorkshire to come to Guernsey in our shoulder months as we still have plenty to offer on the island.”
Tony Hallwood, Aviation Development Director: “It is the first time that we have had Guernsey available as a winter destination from LBA. We’re sure that it’ll continue to thrive as people travel between the two areas – whether that be for short breaks, to visit family members or travel on business.”
“We are very pleased to have this great domestic route with Aurigny through the winter, giving passengers the opportunity to explore Guernsey all year round. Flying from Leeds Bradford Airport is an easy, convenient way to explore more of the UK and we are sure that passengers will have a fantastic time on the island.”
The continuation of the route will enable passengers to explore what Guernsey has to offer over the festive period and into the New Year. A host of activities are available in Guernsey throughout the winter months, including Winter fayres and Farmers markets, appealing to a range of travellers from families to foodies.
Mike Hopkins, Director of Marketing and Tourism at Visit Guernsey, said: “The continuation of the Leeds Bradford route throughout the winter is great news as it gives us the opportunity to attract additional visitor numbers from the north and north east of England through the shoulder months.
“VisitGuernsey will continue to work closely with Aurigny, Leeds Bradford Airport and our tour operator partners to help maximise awareness and bookings for this successful new route.”
Similarly, those travelling from Guernsey to Leeds Bradford Airport will be able to enjoy the Christmas festivities across the Yorkshire region.
Jennifer Young, Head of Visit Leeds, said: “Just 20 minutes from Leeds Bradford Airport is the magnificent city of Leeds where there’s plenty to see and do. This is a perfect time to visit. Enjoy the magic of the German Christmas Market, Northern Ballet’s Beauty and the Beast and Strictly Ballroom at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. That’s just a taste of the diverse and vibrant cultural scene on offer.
“You won’t get better than Leeds for all your Christmas shopping. Now the third best place to shop in the UK outside London, there’s beautiful Victorian arcades housing all the latest brands and Kirkgate Market and the Corn Exchange, both packed full of quirky independents within the splendour of Grade 1 listed buildings.
“Compact and walkable, you can marvel at the splendid architecture, take in a comedy show, see world class acts at the first direct arena or immerse yourself at The Tetley, the centre for contemporary art in the city situated in the art-deco old brewery. And to soak up all the atmosphere there’s food and drink galore with cuisines from across the world to sample in roof top bars or cosy independent cafes.”
