A free concert featuring top Island bands and celebrities from the world of television, sport, music and comedy will take place in the heart of St Peter Port this summer.

JT’s Celebrity Market Rocks, in aid of The Lord’s Taverners, will be held on Friday 23 June in Market Square. With top Island folk-hop band Buffalo Huddleston headlining, the evening promises to be a celebration of quality local music.

The event forms part of The Lord’s Taverners annual Summer Celebrity Cricket Weekend, which JT is pleased to support for the seventh year running. It means that many celebrities visiting for the charity event, including Chris Tarrant, Lorriane Chase and Ian Irvine (many more to be annouced in the coming weeks), will first be joining in with the festivities in Market Square.

The celebrities will then join Islanders at a Quiz Night, hosted by the popular ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ presenter, at St Pierre Park on Saturday 24 June.

The weekend will culminate with the popular Celebrity Cricket Match in Herm on Sunday 25 June.

JT Deputy Managing Director, Tamara O’Brien, said: “This charity weekend has become well-known as one of the highlights of the Bailiwick’s summer social calendar, and we are proud to play a role in its continued success. Our partnership with The Lord’s Taverners over many years has allowed us to help them stage a high-profile fundraising event and it is a pleasure to support our community in this way.

“This year, the schedule has a new twist with JT’s Celebrity Market Rocks, which is another free event to add to JT’s ongoing and successful Summer of Music. It will be a great opportunity for Islanders to hear local talent and rub shoulders with some stars of stage, screen and sport for free.

“We also hope to see as many Islanders as possible at the Chris Tarrant Quiz Night and at the Herm International Cricket Ground to watch the match, see the celebrities again and enjoy a great day out.”

Alex Ford, Chairman of The Lord’s Taverners in Guernsey said: “I would like to thank JT for continuing to support this great fundraising weekend. JT’s commitment ensures that we can support important projects such as a number of mini busses for children to use, supporting the KGV with developing The Lords Taverners Cricket Pavilion as well as a number of smaller grants to young individuals within the community.
