The finalists for the Sure Customer Service Awards have been announced after judges reviewed a record number of nominations from members of the public.
More than 10,000 nominations were received via voting boxes and online voting for islanders who have shown enthusiasm and excellence when providing customer service.
There are 12 categories in total including a memorial award for former Sure chief executive Eddie Saints, who passed away this year and was a keen supporter of the awards.
Due to the sheer quantity of high quality entries the judges have selected a highly commended person or team for each category. The judges felt that those selected were worthy of mentioning to celebrate their customer service dedication and efforts.
The judging panel was made up of Charlotte Dunsterville, chief customer officer at Sure; Mike Huston, Island FM station controller; Jill Clark, director of customer service at Specsavers; Sonia Taylor, director at Guernsey Market Buildings; Karel Harris director at Sarnia Hotels; Tracey O’Neill, director of sales for Red Carnation Hotels; Melissa Campbell, director at Situations; John O’Neill, director at Guernsey Chamber of Commerce; Neil Fellows, senior manager at Lloyds Banking Group; Steve Gibson, head of local markets at Barclays Bank; Mark Smith, director at The Busy Guernsey Bee; and Matthew Glen-Williamson, head of markets at Airtel Vodafone.

The Sure Customer Service Awards, organised in association with the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce, aim to highlight and celebrate the contribution great customer service can make to a business’s success.
“Great customer service is vital to the success of a business and Sure understands the importance of celebrating and rewarding high quality service,” said Mrs Dunsterville.
“Sure is pleased to support the Customer Service Awards for the seventh year and is especially proud to present the Eddie Saints Memorial Trophy to someone who is innovative and goes the extra mile in the name of customer service.”
Guernsey Customer Services Awards founder Julie Todd said: “Yet again we have seen the high calibre of businesses that are operating in Guernsey. The quality and quantity of the entries has been extremely high and although the judges had to select a winner in each category, all of the finalists are to be commended.
“The Sure Customer Service Awards are a showcase for the customer service excellence that exists in Guernsey and we are looking forward to growing the event further in the years to come.”
The awards presentation will take place on Thursday 6 July in Market Square at 5.00pm. All category winners will be presented with their trophy and the overall winner of this year’s event will be announced along with the winner of Eddie Saints Memorial Trophy.
