Julius Baer has made five senior appointments to further develop its fast-growing Channel Island and international businesses whilst expanding its investment services offering.

Craig Allen has been appointed head of portfolio management Guernsey, Jean-Luc Le Tocq and Marie-Christine Potter have joined the relationship management team, Andrea Sarchet-Luff has become part of Julius Baer’s risk, legal and compliance team and Iain Stables joins the local credit team.

The leading Swiss private banking group now employs over 90 staff on the island.

Mr Allen, who is a chartered wealth manager, spent the last eight years at Credit Suisse where he served on four different boards across the UK and Guernsey. For five years, he headed up the portfolio management business in the UK, CI and Gibraltar and also had oversight globally for all sterling-based discretionary private mandates and sign-off on all investments held by UK resident non-domiciled clients. His appointment will help Julius Baer expand further the existing investment offering for local and international clients.

Mr Le Tocq was head of relationship management and investment advisory in Guernsey and a member of the Channel Islands executive board for the last 13 years at Credit Suisse. He is qualified as an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and is a chartered wealth manager.

Mrs Potter joins Julius Baer after 20 years as a senior relationship manager at Credit Suisse. She is fluent in French and Italian and is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. With over 28 years of private banking and wealth management experience, her focus has been on long-term relationships with private clients and their advisers based in Guernsey, London and other locations.

In her new role, Ms Sarchet-Luff will have particular responsibility for governance and oversight. She brings a wealth of experience from her 10 years with the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, where she has worked at both assistant director and acting deputy director level within the banking and insurance division.

Mr Stables has over 20 years’ experience in private banking, providing lending solutions for an international client base. He holds the investment advice certificate and joins Julius Baer as a director in the credit team, with a focus on Lombard and mortgage lending.

Paul Van Neste, branch manager Guernsey said: "I am delighted to welcome such highly experienced individuals to support the continuing growth of the Guernsey team of Julius Baer. Locally focused relationship management delivered through locally based professionals remains key to ensuring a quality private banking service for both local and international clients."
