Staff from all four businesses that occupy Glategny Court will be donning their zaniest tights this Friday in support of the Bright Tights initiative.
The businesses – Collas Crill, the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC), Investec and KPMG – are all encouraging involvement from staff in a combined effort to raise awareness of gynaecological cancers and raise funds for research into their causes and treatment.
The fourth annual Bright Tights day will involve various events organised by the charity, including a launch breakfast at Urban Kitchen, as well as fundraising efforts from businesses across the island.
“This is a fantastic cause to be involved with and a great reason for the Commission to collaborate with its neighbouring businesses. We expect to see an extremely colourful Glategny Court on Friday and hope our group efforts go some way to making a difference and helping the charity reach its goals,” said Nikki Cranmer, analyst at the GFSC and co-ordinator for its Bright Tights day.
Last year Bright Tights raised more than £22,000 for The Eve Appeal, Guernsey Cancer Support and various other charities.
Laura Preston, Business Development at Investec Bank (Channel Islands) Limited said: “Cancer is likely to affect one in three people so it is important that we help awareness where possible and support events like this. Investec will also be holding a cake sale to raise further funds on Friday for this worthwhile cause.”
Linda Johnson, director at KPMG and Bright Tights supporter said the firm was particularly pleased to see male members of staff getting involved.
“Almost all of us know of someone affected by these dreadful diseases and it is so good to see many of our male staff get involved to support female colleagues and relations. 30 of our staff will be taking part with many more supporting through donations, the total of which KPMG will match as a firm.
“We moved into our new home at Glategny Court a month ago; everyone has joined together for Bright Tights Day and already there is a great sense of community among the neighbouring businesses,” she said.
