Three employees at Mourant Ozannes in Guernsey have passed the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). Paralegals Diana Rodriguez and Esme Higgs, and Property Planning Adviser James Le Gallez, completed the qualification as part of their professional development with the firm. In addition, Diana Rodriguez was awarded the Oxford University Press Law Prize for her achievement and performance throughout the year.

Diana, who studied Social and Political Sciences for her degree and also holds an MSc in Politics of Development, impressed the assessment panel at Bournemouth University with her "high level of achievement across a broad range of subjects" and passed the GDL with Distinction. In September, Diana will commence her Legal Practice Course (LPC), which she will undertake part-time while continuing to work at Mourant Ozannes.

James Le Gallez has a BA (Hons) in Geography and Urban Design and holds a Masters in Town & Country Planning. He passed the GDL with Merit and in addition to continuing to build his busy practice area, he intends to commence the LPC in March next year on a part-time basis.

Esme Higgs has a BA (Hons) in Public Relations and passed the GDL with Merit. She simultaneously studied for and completed her Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) qualifications, and in September she will undertake the Legal Practice Course in Bristol, before returning to Mourant Ozannes next year.

Managing Partner at Mourant Ozannes Guernsey, Jessica Roland, said: “We have a strong record of supporting employees through professional qualifications in legal, secretarial, corporate services and business services roles. Congratulations to Diana, Esme and James on passing the GDL and good luck to all three in the next phase of their professional development.”

The GDL is a legal conversion course which covers the foundations of legal knowledge required by The Law Society and The General Council of the Bar.
