Sales of Guernsey Electricity’s 2014 calendar have raised £2,313 for the GSPCA. The calendar features views of the island as captured by Guernsey Electricity employees and the images were submitted as part of a competition for staff to show off their creative talents. The money raised will be used to develop the GSPCA’s cattery. The charity rehomes between 150-300 cats a year and help over 1000 cats every year that are stray, injured, unwanted and feral.

The GSPCA has been caring for animals in Guernsey for more than 140 years. The charity's role is to prevent cruelty and promote kindness to animals through education.

The charity is funded through the generosity of the local community and without donations they wouldn't be able to help the thousands of animals that come through their doors every year.

The charity was chosen to benefit from the sales by overall winner of the competition company secretary Steve Pattimore whose image of Grande Havre appears on the front cover of the calendar.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said: "All of team here at the GSPCA would like to thank Guernsey Electricity, not only for putting together a fantastic calendar of wonderful local images, but for nominating us to receive the money raised as it is very much appreciated and it will help many cats at the Shelter and around Guernsey.

"This month the GSPCA had its 141st anniversary and we have been at our location in St Andrews since 1929.  Currently we are looking at redeveloping much of the site due to the age of the buildings and this money will certainly help towards improving our cat facilities.

"We always have over 50 cats on site and every day we are helping rescue, reunite and rehome cats and kittens from around Guernsey."

Clare Brouard, Communications Manager at Guernsey Electricity said: "The GSPCA are a fantastic charity that do great work in the local community so we're pleased to support them through the sales of our 2014 calendar."

"The calendar competition has become a Guernsey Electricity staff tradition and is something that is looked forward to every year."
