Money raised through the sale of Guernsey Electricity’s calendar will help additional needs support group Wigwam be available to local families and update its records remotely.

Each year, Guernsey Electricity produces a calendar using photographs of local scenes which have been taken by its employees. All the money raised through the sale of the calendar is donated to a local charity chosen by the person whose image was chosen as the front cover.

More than £1,500 has been raised and Wigwam will be using the money towards its communication costs for 2017.

‘We want to be accessible to families who have children with additional needs at the time when they need help and so it’s vitally important that we are well connected,’ said Wigwam operations manager Andy Graham.

‘The money kindly raised by Guernsey Electricity will cover our landline and mobile costs for an entire year as well as our internet connectivity costs. We are developing a new client data system and so we can use some of the money to cover the cost of remotely accessing that system which will allow Wigwam’s family support worker to update records while she is with the families and free up time which was spent on administration.’

Clare Packman, communications manager at Guernsey Electricity, said the calendar, which featured photos of Sark, L’Eree, Moulin Huet and Portelet, continued to be popular.

‘The Guernsey Electricity calendar has raised tens of thousands of pounds for local charities and because the beneficiary has been chosen by an employee, it is often smaller charities that have personal meaning to them,’ she said.

‘Wigwam provides invaluable support to families and so it’s fantastic that the money raised by the calendar has covered their connectivity costs for an entire year meaning they will be there when they are needed.’
