Staff breaks at GO2 charity shop will be a more comfortable experience this summer, following a donation from Guernsey Electricity’s community fund.

The charity has received £750 from the fund, which will be spent on materials and furniture to improve the garden behind the shop in New Road, St Sampson’s.

‘Currently the area is in a bit of a mess and our furniture is old and broken,’ said GO chairman, Sarah Bamford.

‘We are delighted to have the garden as we know that social integration and communication is a vital part of the training we offer these young people. We are extremely grateful to Guernsey Electricity for its donation and also to Llloyds Bank staff, who have kindly offered to do the work.’

The aim is to create a garden which staff, volunteers and trainees can use for their breaks during the day, and for occasional barbecues in the summer. It is anticipated that the work will be completed by June.

‘It’s a lovely space at the back of the shop for staff and helpers at the shop to use. It just needs a bit of a facelift and Guernsey Electricity is very pleased to be able to help that happen,’ said Clare Packman, Guernsey Electricity’s communications manager.
