FCG, Guernsey Employer of the Year, has appointed two new members of staff as part of the continued expansion of its Guernsey-based operations. FCG is the mind, management and strategic parent of UK distributed car insurance product 1ST CENTRAL.
Paul Torode has been appointed as managed service and security head at the FCG development hub. His role involves managing the services provided to other companies within the First Central Group and the group’s approach to information security.
Mr Torode was head of information systems at Sure where he amassed a wealth of experience in security, IT, data centre and network operations and associated technologies over 18 years.
FCG chief technology officer, John Davison, said: “Paul brings with him an impressive level of expertise. FCG boasts an excellent team of technical specialists and supporting operational staff. Paul will be part of the continued evolution of our bespoke online IT platform, Focus, which is used by 1st CENTRAL, and other big plans we have in development this year.
“We take a different approach to the corporate world motivated by a desire to innovate, selecting people we know will fit with our culture; Guernsey has the right people to help do that and Paul is one of those people.”
Mr Torode said: “FCG is leading the field in terms of innovation in technology and providing cutting edge systems in the UK retail insurance market.
“My main passion is continual improvement and development of new responses to business, technical and commercial objectives and this is something on which FCG is focussed. It’s an exciting time to be working in this sector.”
Paul Lavin has been appointed as FCG’s financial accountant. As the senior technical accountant in the group he is responsible for leading the production of group’s annual consolidated financial statements and the relevant accounting policies for all the group’s entities.
FCG deputy group chief executive, Mike Leonard, said: “In Guernsey we have built a development team, a bespoke system and we host all group operations for a UK business; Paul’s expertise and his enthusiasm for FCG’s ethos means he is a perfect fit for us.
“We want our business to be about providing support, and an environment that’s fair to staff as well as building a caring culture where everyone feels valued. We welcome both Pauls and we’re looking forward to another successful year in Guernsey.”
