Guernsey’s inaugural car rally will take place next month with the launch of the Resolution IT Guernsey Rally.

Taking place on Saturday 24 February, the event will take place at three different locations in the higher parishes, with the Specsavers car park at La Villiaze as the main assembly point for the cars. Over half of the available 50 places have already been taken.

Karl Marshall from the Guernsey Kart and Motor Club, organisers of the event said: ‘This has been a long time coming for all our island’s car enthusiasts and I’ve been absolutely delighted with the tremendous support we’ve had since announcing our intention to launch a car rally here. We've managed to get it licenced as a Motor Sports Association approved event, so we already have a number of competitors signed up from the UK, as well as Jersey.

‘We’re anticipating this will become an annual event so it’s good news for the Guernsey economy at a time of year that is traditionally quiet for visitors. Each car has a driver and a navigator, plus they frequently bring family, friends and supporters, providing a welcome boost to the economy.'

Olly Duquemin, Joint Managing Director from main sponsors, Resolution IT, said: ‘This is a tremendous opportunity to put Guernsey on the map as a car rally destination. As a long-time supporter of the club, it's great to be able to offer Resolution IT's support to what I hope will become an annual fixture on the car rally calendar. I hope as many people as possible will come along and support us.’

Further details, including route maps, can be found at the 2018 Guernsey Rally Facebook page.
