The latest list of star rated food businesses has been released and is available at www.gov.gg/fhis.
Since the first list was produced on 28 February 2014, 35 premises have received their first star rating and a further four premises have been re-rated following the successful completion of improvements by the businesses. Newly rated and re-rated premises are marked with an asterisk on the list for ease of reference.
We are very pleased that the four premises that were re-inspected have now all achieved a five star hygiene rating, including one notable improvement from a previous two star rating. These re-ratings demonstrate the positive impact of the scheme in raising standards of hygiene evident at local food businesses.
The new list gives four stars to PEH Catering. This covers the Gloucester Dining Room and all hospital catering. Three other States premises, Longue Rue House, Maison Maritaine and Mignot Memorial Hospital have been given five stars.
The most recent list also includes 16 newly rated premises from Alderney. The Department is pleased to note the high standards of hygiene that are continuing to be found in Alderney with nine food businesses achieving five stars and another six having received four stars.
A total of 126 premises have now received a star rating and officers from the Department are continuing to inspect food businesses as part of the ongoing inspection programme.
Tobin Cook, Deputy Chief Environmental Health Officer, commented that:
"We are pleased with the continuing progress being made as a result of our routine inspection programme. Businesses are reacting positively to the Scores on the Doors scheme, where necessary making improvements to how they operate their businesses in order to achieve those higher ratings".
