Guernsey Electricity has appointed Victoria Sloan to head up its capital project investment portfolio.
Mrs Sloan, a chartered accountant and physics graduate, will oversee the management of priority investment projects and ensure these schemes hit agreed targets in her role as Guernsey Electricity’s portfolio lead. She will support both project delivery teams and the company’s board as part of her work.
‘Guernsey Electricity is investing in projects and infrastructure that benefit the island, and we recognise the importance of ensuring such priority programmes are effectively managed. Victoria’s wealth of experience and skills will help drive forward our project management capability and assist decision-making as we continually look to enhance how the company operates,’ said Guernsey Electricity’s chief executive officer, Alan Bates.
Mrs Sloan said she was looking forward to the exciting and interesting challenge ahead at Guernsey Electricity, adding the company’s culture valued staff and drove excellence.
‘As portfolio lead, I am responsible for structuring a prioritised portfolio of investment projects to the Guernsey Electricity Board and for ensuring the projects within it deliver to the standards expected of a leading energy supplier. I am keen to share my knowledge and provide guidance and support to both upskill the wider organisation and develop individuals within my team,’ she said.
‘I look forward to presenting the senior team with the information and tools it needs to optimise its decision-making and provide them high levels of confidence in project delivery, reinforced by robust and transparent systems and underpinned by guidance and support for project delivery teams.’
Mrs Sloan joins Guernsey Electricity from the States of Guernsey where she was senior finance manager for the capital investment portfolio team. Through her career in the UK and Guernsey, she has worked in various public and private sector organisations in business delivery, management information and project management.
Outside of work, Mrs Sloan is also an active supporter of island life, including being a volunteer and member of the South Show committee as well as a trustee of the Friends of Loveridge charity and sits on the HSC maternity services liaison committee . She was also deputy mayor of Hessle Town Council in East Yorkshire between 2005 and 2009.
