Saffery Champness director Lisa Vizia has been named ‘Trustee of the Year’ at the Citywealth Magic Circle Awards 2017.

The awards ceremony, which took place last night (10 May) at the Rosewood Hotel, London saw Miss Vizia win this prestigious award from a shortlist of six trustees for contributing expertise and knowledge, and helping to bring new levels of excellence to wealth management.

The Magic Circle Awards, now in its 12th year and organised by the UK-based publisher of wealth-management industry news and directories, Citywealth, brings together a top level group of elite advisers and managers and highlights excellence in the private wealth sector.

Saffery Champness Registered Fiduciaries was also runner up in the ‘Trust Company of the Year Institutional’ category.

The event attracted more than 300 attendees representing over 140 organisations including the leading law firms, trust companies, family offices, tax advisors, investment managers and bankers in the private wealth sector to recognise the achievements of the industry during the past year.

Entries for each category were shortlisted by an international panel of highly respected wealth managers and advisers. The winners were then chosen by the panel of judges together with online voting which carries the weight of one additional judge.

Miss Vizia, who was at the awards evening, said: “I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to have received this award with the calibre of the other leading private client professionals in my category. For our firm to also be runner-up in the trust company of the year category is a testament to the hard work, enthusiasm and dedication of our Guernsey team.”

Saffery Champness, established in 1977 by one partner and now one of the largest independent fiduciary service providers in Guernsey is celebrating its 40th anniversary in Guernsey this year.  The firm employs more than 120 people across its trust, funds, tax and accountancy businesses, with its fiduciary team specialising in the provision of services to an international client base.

Managing director of Saffery Champness, Nick Batiste, said: “Lisa is an asset to the firm and her commitment, hard work and dedication has been justly rewarded and we are proud of her achievement.”

Miss Vizia also received the silver award in the ‘Woman of the Year: Business Growth (professional Services)’ category and Saffery Champness Registered Fiduciaries secured the bronze award in the ‘Company of the Year: Female Leadership (Professional Services) category at the 2017 Citywealth Power Women Awards. The firm has also been shortlisted for the independent trust company of the year award at the WealthBriefing European Awards.
