St Saviour’s reservoir dam walkway and eastern carpark off Rue a L’or will be closed to the public from Monday 15 August in order to undergo planned maintenance work.
This project, which has been contracted by Guernsey Water to local civil engineering company Geomarine, is anticipated to take approximately nine weeks and will involve sealing joints and minor surface cracks within the walkway and parapet walls.
During this time the western car park off Rue des Annevilles will remain open for those who wish to enjoy the Millennium Walk and its surrounding green lanes.
Mark Walker, capital delivery manager of Guernsey Water said; “Maintenance to the dam is essential to ensure that the structure continues to be totally compliant from a health and safety point of view. This work is purely preventative and there is no current risk to the stability of the dam structure.”
“This work will not have any impact on the quality of the island’s water supply which remains safe and good to drink. We do however appreciate that it will cause a little disruption to people wishing to enjoy the circular Millennium Walk, for which we apologise.
“This work has deliberately been planned to take place during the longer and drier summer months to ensure it is completed as efficiently and smoothly as possible and with as little disruption.”
