Cyclists about to embark on the mammoth task of riding the equivalent distance between Guernsey and Gatwick had a boost to the charity coffers when they held a static bike ride at Admiral Park Waitrose on Saturday.

They raised more than £300 for the two local charities destined to get the proceeds of the big ride overnight at the airport on 29 August – Les Bourgs Hospice and Le Rondin School.

The group of cyclists are all colleagues working at the airport including airport services staff and fire station workers.

The static bike ride was part of their training for the challenge; they will be cycling 161 miles around the airport using the runway and taxiways throughout the night so as not to disturb airport operations.

Heritage Insurance and other local sponsors are supporting the cyclist, which means all money raised will to go directly to Les Bourgs Hospice and Le Rondin School.
Donations can be made online at https://race-nation.com/donate/21. Anyone who makes a donation of more than £20 will be entered into a prize draw to win two return tickets to London Gatwick with Aurigny.
