Channel Islands Coop has partnered with electric car share service EVie to provide islanders with a small fleet of ‘A2B’ electric vehicles that can be hired for sustainable travel around Jersey.
From 5 September, a range of EVie electric cars and vans will be available at four Coop stores across the island to collect and drop off via an app.
This includes two 'A2A' vehicles and four 'A2B' vehicles at St Helier Grand Marche, with two 'floating spaces' at Beaumont Coop, and two spaces at St Brelade Coop and St Peter Grand Marche.
These EVie vehicles are easily visible through identifiable, blue-painted spaces and clear branding, and complement a wider network of over 40 EVie vehicles and more than 50 spaces across the island.

Carl Winn, Head of Community and Sustainability at CI Coop, said he was "delighted" to be partnering with EVie to supply the community with sustainable electric vehicles.
"Prioritising sustainability is a vital part of our overall mission at the Channel Islands Coop, and this partnership provides a fantastic opportunity to ensure that the residents of Jersey have the ability to make more sustainable choices," he added.
Nick Perchard-Rees, CEO at EVie, meanwhile added that with transport emissions accounting for nearly half of Jersey's overall output, the collaboration with CI Coop was "crucial in making a real impact".
"This partnership enables us to offer more islanders the chance to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a healthier environment," he said.

It comes as EVie's e-bike hire business remains stalled after Mr Perchard-Rees announced in March the suspension of its fleet of 175 electric bikes as a result of insurance cover being withdrawn at "unsatisfactorily abrupt notice".
Ministers remained firm that there would be no Government bailout of the firm's e-bike business and no last-minute injections of cash.
EVie’s vehicle fleet was unaffected by the electric bike suspension.
To rent a vehicle, islanders need to download the EVie app, input their email, password and card details, then upload a selfie and a photo of their driving licence.
When islanders need a vehicle, they can check the availability on the app. 'A2B' vehicles can be booked up to 15 minutes in advance.
