From securing loose objects to getting ready for a potential power cut, islanders are being advised to prepare their homes ahead of Storm Ciarán hitting.
The Government issued the following advice this afternoon...
With regard to personal property, please ensure that buildings are secure, and any outside items are either brought inside or tied down and secured.
Secure loose objects such as ladders, garden furniture, wheelie bins, trampolines, or anything else that could be blown around.
Close and securely fasten doors and windows.
Park vehicles in a garage (if you have one) or keep them clear of buildings, trees, walls, and fences.
Make sure you are prepared should there be a power cut.
Members of the public are also reminded to remove cars from slipways, due to the high tides and stormy conditions. Public car parks have been made free to help with this.
After the storm, be careful not to touch any electrical/ telephone cables that have been blown down or are still hanging.
Do not walk too close to walls, buildings, and trees as they could have been weakened.
