A longstanding paradise for plane-spotters and islanders seeking a pre-travel retreat, Jersey Airport's iconic free panoramic viewing platform is to be closed to the public – and replaced with a "premium" lounge.
Ports of Jersey confirmed that the new paid-for space will be operated by travel hospitality firm, No1 Lounges.
Passengers will be able to access complimentary seasonal hot dishes, snacks, premium drinks, and unlimited WIFI in the transformed space next year.
Access to the current upstairs lounge has been restricted as work on the renovation begins.

No1 Lounges already operates 15 airport lounges around the UK, including at London Heathrow.
Departing passengers will be able to access the lounge by using airline frequent flyer schemes, some credit cards, or by paying a walk-in fee.
Ports of Jersey said that costs will be published ahead of the opening date next summer.
It was also confirmed that an alternative quite space will be provided upstairs at the airport, separate from the lounge.
These plans form part of Ports of Jersey's long-term aim to renovate Jersey Airport's entire departures and arrivals terminals.
Improvements have already been taking place over recent months with the introduction of new security machines and body scanners, as well as a Fast Track and enhanced Assisted Travel service.
The next phase of work in departures is due to start at the end of 2025, which will see self-service bag drops installed, a redesigned terminal, a greater choice of shopping, food and drink, and a comfortable seating area.
In arrivals, plans are also being developed to "sensitively integrate" the listed 1937 building in the renovation.
Ports of Jersey CEO Matt Thomas, said: “I am delighted to announce our partnership with No1 Lounges, and we are looking forward to being able to provide this stylish sanctuary from the busy terminal.
"No1 Lounges have a reputation for delivering outstanding customer service, a welcoming atmosphere, and a memorable experience for every guest, and we are confident they will provide a relaxing environment to unwind before a flight.
“Our aim is to create a friendly, easy-to-use airport, fit for the needs and expectations of today’s travellers, that Jersey can be truly proud of. We want our airport to celebrate Jersey’s unique heritage and identity, creating a relaxing start to customers’ journeys."
No1 Lounges’ Managing Director, Rami El-Dahshan, added: "We’re thrilled to be part of this ambitious project. Jersey has an incredible energy and unique charm, and we’re passionate about creating a lounge experience that reflects the spirit of the island.
"This project is a testament to our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to travellers. It’s not just about building a space—it’s about immersing ourselves in the culture and collaborating with the local community to create something really special.
"We can’t wait to bring it to life."
