Appeal for witnesses over Bel Royal assault incident

Tuesday 26 April 2016

Police have asked anyone who saw last week’s incident involving a “serious assault” at Bel Royal to come forward.

They say that that a number of people would have seen two men and a woman running from the area around the burger bar at around 3.30 pm last Monday – and have asked anyone who saw anything to get in touch with them.

In a statement yesterday, the police said that two of the people involved – a man and a woman – ran across the road from the burger bar into Coronation Park.

They said: “Two men were involved in a serious assault that occurred between 15:30 – 15:55 in the area along the seafront between the Kiosk at Bel Royal, more commonly known as the Burger Bar and the Victorian seaside shelter, opposite the entrance to Coronation Park. Both men would have been running away from the Kiosk and one of the men, accompanied by a young woman, crossed the road and ran into the park.

“The road was fairly busy with traffic and police are asking for anyone that may have seen this incident or even part of it, to get in touch and help them build a better picture of events on that afternoon.”

They have asked that anyone with any information get in touch with them on 612612 or on the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555111.
