Armed police had a seven-hour stand-off with a man at Le Marais last night.
Families had to be evacuated from three floors at the Le Marais block before the 28-year-old man was arrested just after midnight.
He is in custody this morning.
There was speculation on social media that the man had been shouting at people out of the window, and that he had been armed with a knife.
A statement from the police this morning said that there had been no injuries.
They said: “Police were called at 5.40pm last night following a disturbance at one of the flats.
“Based on the information received specially trained firearms officers and negotiators were deployed where they spent almost seven hours negotiating with the man and subsequently arresting him just after midnight.
“No one was injured during the incident.
“The incident was contained in one flat at Le Marais, however three floors were evacuated as a safety precaution.”
Police have thanked Le Marais residents for co-operating with them throughout the disruption yesterday, and the Honorary Police and Parish Hall staff.
