Shakespearian drama and deception mixed with sun, songs and silliness are on offer at Coronation Park this week as the award-winning Oddsocks returns with a classic romantic romp.
Every weekend, Express presents a selection of exhibitions, performances, workshops, events and other historic, creative and delicious content to help islanders get their weekly dose of culture.
Award-winning Oddsocks Productions are back in Jersey with Shakespeare’s romantic romp, Much Ado About Nothing, performed in their own inimitable, hilarious and irreverent style.
Drama and deception mix with sun, songs and silliness to create a theatre event you won’t forget as this “hugely funny” (The Stage) company hit the road with their “energetic, downright silly, utterly professional and totally inventive theatre” (East Midlands Theatre Review).
The shows continue every night at 19:00 until 10 August (excluding Sunday 6 August) at Coronation Park.
Please dress suitably as performances will go ahead whatever the weather. Refunds will only be offered if a performance is cancelled.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive by bike, on foot, by public transport (bus 12A or 15), or park with plenty of time to spare as Millbrook playing field is no longer available.

ArtHouse Jersey is currently hosting a series of three-day art-based workshops for groups of children aged eight to 11, focussing on the theme of me, you, and the sea.
Their work will culminate in a weekend pop up exhibition at Greve de Lecq Barracks on 12-13 August from 10:00-17:00.
The project was designed to encourage students to build confidence, harness their imaginations and work as a team to create pieces of art that they can be proud of and share with their family and the wider community.
The children have been exploring the forest and beach (despite the rain!) then responding to nature in their brilliant experimental artwork. Students are taking part in activities such as sculpting, painting, printmaking and sketching
An exhibition by one of Jersey’s leading contemporary artists, Kay Le Seelleur Ara aka ‘Mrs Magnitude', has opened this week.
'Mrs Magnitude’s Emporium' will feature hundreds of original works of art, paintings and drawings that Kay has made since a life changing moment in 2019, and promises to be a fun and wild journey into the brilliantly inventive, sharp humour and gender politics of Kay's extraordinary body of work.
Kay Le Seelleur Ara regularly posts her work on Instagram and has gained a diverse and growing audience of followers from around the world, ranging from fans in the Australian outback to world-class New York painters and critics.
Her work can be explored via her three Instagram handles; @kay_leseelleur, @kays_telly_doodles and @mrs_magnitude.
'Mrs Magnitude’s Emporium' will run at ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House until 20 August 2023.
This Saturday, from 17:00-20:00, Kay Le Seelleur Ara's exhibition will be open a little late so that people can enjoy the show in the presence of the artist herself.

Earlier this week, poet Traci O’Dea led a workshop in which attendees will created their own ekphrastic poetry – poetry inspired by another art form – inspired by the work displayed as part of 'Mrs Magnitude's Emporium' in a relaxed and supportive environment.
On Friday 4 August, there will also be a performance event of the ekphrastic poetry with refreshments from 18:00-20:00.
Everyone is welcome to this relaxed evening of socialising and poetry reading amongst the brilliantly inventive and colourful works of Kay Le Seelleur Ara.

ArtHouse Jersey have announced their upcoming exhibition 'No Place Like Home' exploring the concept of ‘home’ with an exhibition of newly commissioned works that will be shown in and outside of its gallery space. Expertly curated, No Place Like Home features the work of local and internationally acclaimed artists and invites Islanders to consider their ‘home’ on a personal, national, global and even cosmic scale.
Launching at ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House with a special celebration event on Tuesday 5 September, the show will officially open from Wednesday 6 September and run until 15 October.
The exhibition features 23 gallery based artworks and three external installation pieces, all of which explore ‘home’ from the micro to the macro, including considerations around Jersey’s housing crisis and international perspectives of the health of our planet. Whilst we live in a time when this can be a complex and serious subject, the pieces on display are often playful and interactive and invite the viewer to reflect on their own interpretation and experience.
The Harbour Gallery's summer exhibition 'Art by the Harbourside' is now open, featuring an array of work by over 70 local artists.
Located at The Harbour Gallery at 19 The Quay, Commercial Buildings, the exhibition is open every day from 09:30-17:30 until 10 September.
