Cylists prepare for another big spin off

Saturday 21 February 2015

Organisers of a big charity spin are hoping cyclists will help pedal it into a record-breaker this year.

The Jay Morris Spinathon has become a big money spinner for Jersey Hospice Care since it first started thirteen years to raise awareness of Jay’s illness.

Jay Morris was a keen racing cyclist and founder member of the Velo Cycling Club who died from cancer in 2003 aged 30 just weeks before the first spinathon.

Jenny Morris said: “We are hoping to build on the success of last year and our figure raised to date which is approximately £171,000. The support we get from the spinners is fantastic and knowing Jay is in their thoughts makes the event very special to us as a family. We have very limited spaces still available, so if think you would like a new challenge, please contact us and sign up as soon as possible for what will also be a lot of fun, and help us raise funds for Hospice.”

About 90 people are expected to take part in this year’s event at Club Carrefour in St Lawrence on Saturday 28th February between 11 am and 5 pm.

Spinners can book hour slots by completing the registration form here or by phoning 871559.
