Brewery served silver in national beer competition

Liberation Group have scooped another award after winning a silver medal at a national beer competition for their new bottled India Pale Ale.

The beer beat off competition from hundreds of others to win the prize at the Society of Independent Brewers South West Regional Beer Competition at the Tuckers Maltings Beer Fesitval in Newton Abbot in Devon last week.

The golden bitter missed out on the gold to a bottled beer from Bath Ales Ltd.

Chief Executive of the Liberation Group Mark Crowther said: “To win a silver medal so soon after launching our IPA in a bottle is a major accolade for both the beer, and the brewery team. I know they will be really proud of this success.

“IPA is very popular on draught but we never expected such a strong demand for it in a bottle, or industry recognition. We are always looking for ways to give our customers more choice and obviously this is a very encouraging sign that we have got this right.”

The Jersey-based Brewery only started bottling IPA at the beginning of April and it’s proved to be a massive hit with Islanders too - the first batch has already run dry. They are now busy making another 1,000 cases of it to keep up with demand.

Their other new bottled ale Herm Gold, which was brewed especially for the Island in 2011, has also been going down well with Islanders and the Brewery is keeping a close eye on stocks.
