It's the last week for Islanders to sign up for Cry Jersey's walkathon and the charity is hoping you'll dig out your best costumes, as this year they have introduced a fancy dress leg to their walkathon.
This year, in addition to the usual 21 and 13-mile options, Cry Jersey has introduced a fancy dress six mile walk for next Saturday's event.
They say it is designed to be a team event and they are encouraging participants to think of a theme, roaring 20's, superheroes etc, and gather a team of walkers. There will be a prize awarded to the most unusual and creative team.
Mia Mistry, a fundraiser at Cry said: "We hope all the participants have a great time next Saturday, whether they are challenging themselves with the 21 mile walk or having fun with friends and family doing the fancy dress 6 mile walk. We are raising money through sponsorship for the four Refugee projects CRY supports. Some of the children we work with will have walked for miles in horrendous conditions to reach a place of safety. Help us to provide these children with food, clothing, much needed medical supplies and love."
Walkers can choose between;
21-mile walk from West Park, through St Mary, St Ouen and back along St Aubins bay to West Park.
13-mile walk from West Park to Corbiere and back.
Six-mile fancy dress fun walk from West Park to St Aubin and back again. The fancy dress walk is open to families, groups, schools and local businesses. The challenge is for the team to dress in a theme and Cry Jersey said "the more creative and unique the better!"
Funds raised from the Walkathon will be going to support the Cry Refugee Program which is providing children and young people with basic necessities, shelter and medical supplies in Greece, Iraq, Lebanon and Turkey.
