St Ouen car park closed after "possible toxic substance" discovered

Tuesday 22 October 2024

A car park in St Ouen is still taped off after the remnants of a fire involving burnt plastics and sharp objects were discovered several days ago.

The parish’s Centenier and Chef de Police Robert Hall alerted islanders to the incident with a social media post warning people to take care of the area near Chemin du Moulin.

He wrote: "Please take care and do NOT walk on it as it includes burnt plastics and sharp objects.

"We will get it moved on Monday. Possible toxic substance."

The honoraries referred the incident to the Infrastructure and Environment department shortly after.

The I&E Department told Express this morning that the area remains taped off and will do so until it is cleared.

The work will be completed as soon as possible, the department said.
