Guernseyman Andrew Le Page was a hot topic of conversation on Celebrity Gogglebox last week following a controversial 'recoupling'.

Celebrities including Gok Wan, Nick Grimshaw, Fearne Cotton, Gyles Brandreth, Clare Balding, Roman Kemp and Martin Kemp reacted to dramatic events in the Love Island house last week, which landed Andrew in some hot water.

The popular ITV dating show saw Andrew “coupled up” with fellow contestant, Tasha, since day one.

The show then splits contestants, sending girls to 'Casa Amor', while the boys stay in the original villa. New boys enter Casa Amor and new girls enter the original villa.

Contestants are then given the choice to either re-couple with newcomers or return to the original villa alone in the hope their previous partner will be waiting for them.

Andrew’s decision to recouple with a new girl, Coco, seemingly made for explosive television, when he labelled Tasha “fake” for also re-coupling.

Upon seeing Tasha had decided to recouple, Andrew said: “She’s fake to be honest and to be fair good luck to you.

"She tells more lies than Pinocchio.”

Spandau Ballet bassist and actor Martin Kemp commented: “They [Andrew and Tasha] are both doing the same thing, but he’s upset.”

TV and radio personality Nick Grimshaw added: “Andrew hasn’t got a leg to stand on.”

As the Love Island episode progressed, Andrew confessed to his new partner, Coco, that he wasn’t interested in a romantic relationship with her.

The fiancée of First Date’s Fred Sirieix remarked: “Imagine being picked for a couple then told he doesn’t want you the same day."

Singer and TV presenter, Andi Oliver, yelled: “Coco, run for your life” as she watched. Clare Balding’s wife, Alice Arnold, remarked “Coco’s just been used there”.

Later in the episode, Andrew was seen cuddling with Tasha and said: “It wouldn’t be fair for me to get into bed with Coco and start hugging and kissing her.” His remarks prompted Tasha to ask whether he had already kissed Coco, which Andrew confessed he had.

Surprising the celebrity viewers, Coco was then seen telling other contestants that there had been more physical intimacy between her and Andrew than just kissing.

In a Celebrity Gogglebox rarity, the celebrities’ responses were unanimous in believing the 27-year-old estate agent from Guernsey was in the wrong

English broadcaster, writer and former politician, Gyles Brandreth and comedians Rob Beckett and Tom Allen gasped upon hearing the truth of events between Coco and Andrew.

Radio host and TV personality Roman Kemp remarked: “If I was Coco I would have done the same thing. If you’re going to embarrass me, I’m going to tell it how it is.”

After a conversation with Coco in which Andrew found out she had confessed to the canoodling, he decided to find Tasha and reluctantly tell her the whole truth. Andrew admitted his actions, stating he had been drunk at the time.

“Come on mate, you can’t make excuses,” said Fred Sirieix upon watching.

Martin Kemp commented: “Get out of there [Tasha], leave him on his own."

Since the airing of the Celebrity Gogglebox episode, Andrew and Tasha have resolved their differences and become the first official couple on the show.
