Jersey's Chief Minister has urged islanders to regularly test themselves for covid after his own lateral flow returned a positive result.
As a result, Senator John Le Fondré had to miss a planned in-person meeting with his Guernsey counterpart on the topic of sea links today after testing positive for covid.
Instead, he dialled in via Teams, while Economic Development Minister Senator Lyndon Farnham and External Relations Minister Senator Ian Gorst met Deputy Peter Ferbrache in person. Guernsey's Treasury lead, Deputy Mark Helyar, was also in attendance.
Senator Le Fondré announced on Twitter shortly after 16:00 this afternoon: "As part of my regular lateral flow testing I have tested positive for covid-19 and am therefore isolating at home."
He added: "Taking a regular LFT is a good way to check your covid status and keep those around you safe."

The Chief Minister is due to face questions without notice in tomorrow's States Assembly meeting. Express has asked whether he will be attending virtually and is awaiting a reply.
The positive result comes as Jersey entered the next phase of its 'De-escalation Plan' today.
Having previously lifted the legal requirement for masks to be worn in public spaces, today the Government removed all covid-related travel restrictions. Contact tracing has also now ceased within education settings.
