Collas Crill takes on ITEX walk

Saturday 01 February 2014

One of the biggest community events in Jersey's calendar has a new sponsor.

A Channel Islands law firm has signed up to sponsor Rotary's 48.1 mile challenge which will now be known as the Collas Crill Island Walk. The gruelling walk is one of the largest fund raising events in Jersey and has so far helped 124 individual local charities. 18,229 walkers have taken part in the event since 1991 and the law firm's sponsorship will ensure it continues for at least the next three years.

Collas Crill senior partner Advocate Nuno Santos Costa said: "Rotary and Itex have established an amazing community event. The Collas Crill Island Walk, in conjunction with Rotary de la Manche, will continue to be a real community event. We are looking forward to working with Rotary to continue their great work."

Now in its 23rd year, the walk has raised over £1,866,195 for local charities including Jersey Hospice, Age Concern, RNLI, GOSH, the Women's Refuge and Headway.

C5 Alliance Group, who acquired Itex Holdings in 2013, will continue to have involvement in the event. Chief Executive Officer of the C5 Alliance Group Mark Loane said the business wanted to facilitate and continue the positive efforts already established by the annual charity walk.

He said: "We will be working towards digitally enabling the walk going forward, bringing new features that modernise the registration, tracking and monitoring process. We look forward to working with the new Collas Crill Island Walk team to help raise as much money as possible for so many worthy causes in the island.”

The Collas Crill Island Walk, in conjunction with Rotary Club de la Manche, will take place on 21st June 2014. It starts at 3am from the Elizabeth Terminal at the Harbour, and hugs the entire coastline of Jersey.
