Swish cars and personalised number plates are usually the status symbols of the rich and famous, but now DVS is auctioning the next best thing to the people of ‘JSY’: a series of shorter, more memorable number plates.

The Great Hall at Highlands College will play host to a bidding war this Saturday 8 October at 10:30, which will see Islanders compete to gain highly coveted four and five digit registration numbers, and alternating number patterns such as J171717.

Often proving popular with couples and families, a few sequential numbers will also be on offer: JSY36 and JSY37, JSY1496 and J1497, JSY43 and JSY44, and JSY81, JSY82 and JSY83. There are 50 numbers in all.

Sure to attract most attention, however, is J004. Deputy Eddie Noel, Minister for Infrastructure, commented: “We have another interesting selection of numbers in this auction. Just one J00 number this time, which may lead to some competitive bidding.”

DVS also has an online list for reservation of five and six digit registration numbers, each available for purchase for £250 at DVS offices.

Income from the sales will go towards the purchase of essential DVS equipment and transport related items.

The full list of vehicle registration numbers can be found here. Doors open at 9:00.
