Condor Rapide expected back in service tonight after technical problem

Monday 03 August 2015

Sailings to and from St Malo will resume this evening after they were cancelled this morning - which affected the travel plans of hundreds of Islanders.

Last night, engineers onboard Condor Rapide detected a problem with two of the four electrical generators.

All passengers have been notified of the problem and are being booked onto alternative sailings, as well as being provided with refreshments. Condor Rapide is expected to return to service this evening, with a scheduled departure from St Malo at 7.30 pm arriving in Jersey at 7.50 pm. The ship will then return to St Malo leaving Jersey at 8.30 pm.

Day trippers are being offered alternative travel dates and passengers setting out or returning from a break will be accommodated on the later sailing this evening. A small minority of passengers due to return from France will travel back tomorrow morning and are being accommodated by Condor Ferries overnight in St Malo.

“I would like to apologise to the passengers who have been affected by this cancellation and thank them for their patience and understanding,” said Alicia Andrews, Executive Director – Commercial at Condor Ferries. “The cancellation was caused by faults in two electrical generators and our engineers have been working hard to diagnose and repair the problem to ensure Rapide can return to service this evening.”
