You can usually find this artist experimenting with techniques to create beautiful mixed media collages, but this time she's presenting a collage of cultural events that have piqued her interest.
Hailing from Latvia, Eliza Anna Reine has been living and working in Jersey for two years from her studio on the outskirts of town.
Her work is largely focused on women’s form and the composition combines silhouettes found in magazines and photographs covered with seemingly careless brush strokes and delicate details.

Eliza's collages will be exhibited at the CCA Galleries as part of the International Summer Exhibition opening next month.
In addition to creating her abstract collages, Eliza participates actively in community projects.
After returning from her solo exhibition opening in Riga last month, she started working on a mural at Jersey College Prep as a part of ArtHouse Jersey’s Skipton School Mural Project.

She is currently preparing her work space for an Open Studio day in the middle of July and another group exhibition by the end of August.

On the first Thursday of every month, singers and songwriters around the island gather at the Blue Note bar to share their talent with like-minded people. I had the opportunity to go along to one of their events and it was absolutely magical.
Space is limited, which creates an intimate setting in which people feel that they are a part of something very special. Right before the performance, people are welcome to join in on a songwriting workshop discussing different approaches and techniques.
It is always wonderful to see the local creative scene connecting and sharing their individual knowledge with each other.

The annual summer exhibition at The CCA Galleries International is an important event in Jersey’s art scene, bringing together already established artists as well as ones just launching their careers. Different styles and mediums including original prints, drawings, paintings, architecture, sculpture and photography guarantee a variety which will appeal to many tastes.
Whenever I visit the gallery to see the latest exhibition, it never ceases to amazes me of the prestigious standard of the program which is consistent throughout the year. One of the highlights for me was a photography exhibition ‘Behind the Lens’ which was exhibited last March and brought together iconic photographers Mike McCartney, Rupert Truman and Carinthia West.

For the Summer Exhibition there were 83 artworks selected from nearly 250 pieces submitted, keeping the standard high. Undoubtedly it is an honor for every artist whose work has been selected for the final show.
The exhibition is open to the public from 21 June till 26 July. Do not miss the chance to visit the gallery and appreciate local talents.

I have always been interested in old buildings and historical monuments, by either drawing them, visiting or just admiring them from the outside.
Sometimes, whilst wandering the streets, I imagine someone else walking those same streets many years ago. In those times, there might have been a hat boutique, hairdressers or a launderette in the very place I am having my morning cofffee.
Understanding that these streets and spaces have existed here long before me, and may well exist after I’m gone, helps me to respect and appreciate them even more.
It is so important to value our heritage, therefore I will be attending The Past in the Present: Seven ways that heritage benefits society - a lecture by Andy Brown, Historic England on 11 June, at 18:00 at CCA Galleries International.
I highly recommend this event to everyone interested in culture, heritage, the built environment and architecture.

On 26 June, ArtHouse Jersey will be hosting their second Drink and Draw event of the year. It is a live drawing session set in an easy-going environment in which people from a diverse range of artistic backgrounds can participate.
I attended their previous event and enjoyed it immensely. Initially, I did not know what to expect but it turned out to be a relaxing experience, being in the company of professional and emerging artists.

There were four models dressed in the most beautiful outfits that were reminiscent of the 1920s. To my mind, this was both beautifully and intricately set up.
By the end of the evening, I found myself immersed in a crowd of fellow artists, exchanging their sketches that have now been framed and placed on my wall.
It was a wonderful event that I would definitely recommend - however, you will need to be quick as tickets are sure to sell out in no time!
