Jersey took just a losing point from a disappointing and frustrating night at home against Nottingham.
The Reds lost 27-29 under floodlights at St Peter. With both sides having a mixed start to their campaigns, and with only a couple of bonus points to separate the two before the game, it was always going to be a close encounter.
Jersey went into the half-time break 17-15 ahead after converted tries by Nick Haining and Tom Lowe. The hosts extended their lead after the break thanks to a penalty try kicked by Brendan Cope but then Nottingham fought back to take a 20-29 lead.
Jersey scored a converted try grounded by Nick Campbell but despite strong pressure at the end, the Reds couldn’t quite seal the victory.
