Driving licence applications to move online

Sunday 12 February 2017

Applying to renew and replace driving licences may no longer require a trip to your Parish Hall as another States process prepares to move online.

Deputy Eddie Noel, Minister for Infrastructure, has signed a Ministerial Decision to ask for the law to be amended to allow for an online application process to renew and replace Jersey driving licences in the future.

The move online for this States process follows nearly two weeks after it was announced that the publishing of official State notices would also move online.

The development of the licence online application process will offer the public an alternative to the current process. However, the traditional paper process will be retained for those who do not wish to go online.

The Ministerial Decision was signed on behalf of parishes who administer the driving licence application service.

A draft order is being prepared to amend the law. Once approved, islanders can expect the online service to be available shortly after the changes to the law have been made.
