Final push for tickets to fundraising food challenge

Saturday 16 September 2017

Today’s the last day to get your tickets for a charity meal in memory of a young Jerseyman who sadly passed away earlier this year.

18-year-old Kyle Pringle died in hospital after taking a particular type of ecstasy tablet which Police believed to have been circulating in the island.

Louise Hodge (pictured), a friend of the young man’s mother, has challenged herself to serve as many food portions in 15 minutes as she can at her charity event to raise funds for a memorial bench for Kyle. Any remaining funds will be donated to drugs awareness.

There are still 100 tickets left for the event, and Louise is keen to flog as many as possible before the big day. She told Express: “I’ve always wanted to do a food challenge. People say to me that it must be daunting to make 300 dishes, but the only thing I’m really confident about is the food. I’m really organised on that front – the food’s all getting delivered tomorrow, but I’m just really stressed about selling all the tickets!

Louise said that they won’t have the manpower to be selling tickets on the door, so she urged islanders who want to support the event to buy their tickets today.

Commenting on the more personal story behind the event, Louise said: “I didn’t know Kyle that well, but I’ve known his mum for 35 years and I know her as well as I know my sister. So obviously this is really close to my heart. Some people have said that by doing this I’m supporting drugs, but that’s not the case – I’m supporting people who have lost their children to drugs. There have been lots of ups and downs in getting everything organised, but I’m really excited about the day.”

The event will take place at St Mary’s Community Centre tomorrow from 13:00 until 16:00. You can buy your meal challenge tickets by donating £10.00 to Louise’s PayPal account.
