Firefighters’ charity car wash next month

Wednesday 21 October 2015

Jersey’s firefighters will be holding their annual charity car wash from 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday 1 November.

The hoses and sponges are coming out to clean as many cars as possible – and the firefighters say that they love a challenge, and have cleaned up Bentleys, tractors, horse-boxes and coaches.

The event – for which the fire crews ask drivers to make a donation - will support The Firefighter’s Charity which provides support and rehabilitation to firefighters, and Philip’s Footprints, a local charity that supports bereaved parents.

Station Commander Marc Le Cornu said: “Thanks to the support of the public our previous charity car washes have raised a substantial amount of money for charity and we really hope that this event will be just as successful.

“We usually manage to wash around 300 vehicles, so it will be very interesting to see how many we can wash this year!

“We have washed all sorts of vehicles in the past including Bentley’s, tractors, horse boxes and coaches!! You bring it we’ll wash it!”
